Gourmet Mobile App Reviews

Dreadful

I gave this one star because there is no option for giving no stars. Yes, it will sync to MacGourmet Deluxe 4.0 but most other features are non-functional. Emails to Tech Support go unanswered. Especially reprehensible is that Mariner dragooned customers into paying for this "upgrade" by not supporting compatibility of the earlier version with later iOS versions

terrible - would give it zero if I could…especially the company

I have been a user for many many years and have raved about this product to everyone…..until now. After being forced to spend more money for an “upgrade” since the old version was no longer being supported, I am now unable to sync my shopping lists. Customer service is non existent and tech support has been ignoring me for months since they can’t figure out the problem. I would like a refund but of course can not reach anyone. I am beginning to wonder if anyone actually works there anymore! As far as I’m concerned it is theft to take money for something that does not work.

Human

Sync is painful compared to the pre-Mainer version. I would prefer local wifi sync and not be dependent on Mariners servers. Could not delete more than two files before the app crashed. Three stars would be the rating for a no charge version. I expect more from apps I need to spend money to use.

Horrible!

So, now that we have to sync through the Mariner Cloud, NOTHING WORKS. I have only 3 of my many recipes showing on my iPad. Totally useless. Why can’t you go back to syncing through WiFi with my desktop version of MacGourmet? That worked seamlessly. Now my iPad is useless as a kitchen recipe tool. Mariner, you really goofed! I am ready to go to a different recipe software after years with MacGourmet. Very disappointed. Tried to login to the Mariner Cloud and that wasn’t working either! Wish I could give it a negative star rating. Very disappointed.

Will not open

Ive been using MacGourmet a long time, but now the new app is not working at all. It just does not start or open. Im using an iPhone with IOS 7. Very disappointed!

Buyer beware

I purchased the old version of this app ( Mac Gourmet) for $50, and now it is no longer supported. They intentionally disabled the functions on the old app hopping that people would pay for the new one. Not only that, but there isnt even an upgrade fee....you have to pay full price. Changing the name was a slick move also because the App Store doesnt recognize it as something that youve purchased before. A good company would have left the app that I paid for alone, and given me the option to upgrade. Theyre nothing but a bunch of crooks that give the App Store a bad reputation.

Rip off, piece of crap

Wish I could give this a negative 10. Does not sync with my version of MacGourmet. No support to help getting this sorted out. Paying an additional $50 to buy a new version of software that so many say doesnt work is not comforting to try and see if I can crack the code on this software. Use to love this program and the app that allowed me to sync over WiFi. Now its garbage

Awful

The app comes loaded with non-functional features. Buyer beware.

Terrible!!

Ive have this app for about two years now and it has never worked right. It will not sync from my computer to my iPhone or iPad. Im sick of trying to get it to work. It has been a huge waste of money!!! Dont waste your money. DO NOT buy this app!!!

Bring back Mac Gourmet!

I am giving up on this and looking for a new recipe app. It wont import, no customer support and I refuse to re-key all my recipes into this new version. Very sad that a great product was gutted.

So good it makes me want to cook more often!

My Mac, my iPad, and my iPhone all can synchronize their recipes. Got married, and my wife bought the app and got all my recipes in one shot! As her daughter said, everything that is mine is now hers! :-) Not long ago, my recipe collection was a ratty pile of printed web pages, handwritten notes, printed emails, and iPhone screen shots. Stuffing them all in a binder was an improvement, but now that theyre in Gourmet and Mac Gourmet, I can scale them, print them, see them from across the kitchen on my iPad, and, of course, share them. Last night, my wife of three weeks wanted to make the roasted rosemary garlic red potatoes that go so well with the meatloaf she fished out of the freezer. For a pittance, she bought this wonderful app and had the recipe, scaled to fit how many potatoes she found, ready to go. Life is better with this app in it. I had to reset the cloud server sync information, due to a partial synchronization due to an internet connection interruption, and, oddly, the cloud server itself was not letting me log in for a short while, but now the sync works so well, it is almost creepy. I added a note to a recipe on my iPhone, and it popped up in the recipe, open on my Mac, as I watched. When it works, it works beautifully. Tech support has always been awesome. I feel like I have friends who work there. I guess I do!

Syncing doesnt work

Longtime user... cloud syncing never worked right, it always duplicates every recipe.

Awesome App

I think some updates have been implemented since some of those negative reviews have been written. This app works perfectly for and I sync between my iPhone 5, iPad and computer. Id love to see an Apple Watch app as well.

A must have for foodies and chefs!

I am a chef and used this app all through culinary school and use it still in my restaurant! It is an absolutely perfect app for creating and printing my recipes for my team to use! This companys customer service in helping me upgrade from the old version to the new one while keeping all of my recipes was absolutely fantastic!

Cant log in

It claims the email I have had for 10 years is invalid and will not sign in to the Mariner cloud account. Going back to the old app and canceling credit card payment.

Problems with shopping list

I really like MacGourmet Deluxe so was delighted to find the iOS app. Im happy with the way it handles recipes, but the shopping list handling in Gourmet does not work well. Shopping lists sync okay, except that multiple lists seem to come over if you combine recipes into one shopping list--the combined list and one list for each of the recipes. And there seems to be no way to remove a shopping list from Gourmet. Even if you remove the list in MacGourmet, then sync, every list that ever existed in Gourmet seems to remain. It becomes unusable. I have a few tickets related to this open on the Mariner site. Since shopping list functionality is a main reason to have this on my phone, not having that really hurts the usefulness of the app.

Waste of time and money

Like many others I used the older version and had no problems syncing my iPad/phone and update new notes and or recipes. As stated by many others that version is no longer supported. I have had nothing but problems since Mariner Software has taken over and forced everyone to spend more money on the “upgraded” version. Although i am not happy about spending the extra money on this “upgrade”, I am even more unhappy that I spent so much time putting recipes in the program in order to have them at home and on my iPad/phone and now I have NOTHING. Also, as many have reported, Mariner Software is the worst! Consider yourself lucky if they don’t get back to you, if they do you will most likely get a snippy reply and no help.

Needs more bug updates

I love this app, but Ive been having lots of issues with the iOS app and the desktop app with the ability to import from websites. In the iOS app, I got to a website to search for the recipe and the search wont start and Im not about to try typing in a whole website address to find a recipe every time. The desktop app is having similar problems where Im still doing quite a bit manually. Since the import feature is one of things I liked best about this, Im getting really aggravated with this feature not working.

Gourmet for IOS

Lost ability to import to web. Mac version has the same problem. Dumped both after using for a couple of years for a competitor.

Web Import Broken

A few months ago importing recipes from web sites stopped working, one of the most important features for me. No explanation whatsoever, no fix.
