Gourmet Mobile App Reviews

Helpful but not

Dont pay for this app, or wait until it goes on sale. It still needs so much work. It doesnt sync every recipe off the cloud. Ill be at the store, go to find a recipe and its not there. Even after syncing from my Mac multiple times. Cant delete shopping lists so they pile up and you have to wade through hundreds to find the one you need. The meal planner isnt on this at all which is so not helpful. Its only a helpful app to look up a recipe, if its there. Could be a great companion app but its still not after all this time. Sigh, wish it were.

Great mobile database, but syncing is unreliable

That sums it up. I have MacGourmet on my Mac and Gourmet Mobile on my iPad and iPhone. The iPad does not sync. The _idea_ of having access on each device is great, but only if it works.

Nothing works

It is unbelievable that anyone would sell an app that does not work at all. A user cannot even open an account on the publishers website in order to start using the app. Truly pathetic.

In defense of a longstanding app

Ive been using Gourmet since it was Macgourmet, and before there even was an iPhone, so about 10 years. The desktop app has always been reliable and imports recipes from most, but not all, of my favorite sites. I was ecstatic when they announced an iOS version (before Mariner bought it) and the long awaited syncing feature. Ive never had a problem with the cloud syncing. Apparently some have. It is absolutely true that Mariner hasnt updated the functionality in about 3 years. I think they could do more with it, but apparently they are not spending resources on it. I still use it at least weekly, and it holds my personal recipe collection. Seeing that it has a 2 star rating now makes me sad because Ive used the heck out of it for so long. Mariner, if youre listening, theres a market for this type of app, and I hope youll give it some love.

Still waiting

I bought this app so I could just sync my shopping list from my computer to my iPhone. Ive never been able to get it to work. I even contacted tech support and they had me do a hard reset and still doesnt work. When I click sync on my phone, it says its syncing and even gives me the current date but when I go into the shopping list, theres nothing. Im more than frustrated! Im tired of wasting paper. Please fix this!!

Wheres tech-support and customer service of any software or any app

Ive use MacGourmet deluxe and the iOS apps for years. I used to love it however about a year ago I started having significant problems with syncing – ended up having duplicates and triplicates of all of my recipes etc. After months of trying to work with tech-support and often not hearing from them for weeks or months at a time, I finally contacted Michael Ray, President of Mariner Software; he promised that he would get on it and I then heard from somebody that he was going to be working on it. That was March 12 and I still have never heard back. I just transferred all of my recipes from MacGourmet to Paprika which syncs between the program on your computer and the apps on your devices on its own every single time you make a change
